Growing up, Bud and I both had been told that we had a strong Cherokee history. But we never knew much about our family history beyond our grandparents.

A few years ago, I began researching our ancestors. Anyone who has attempted this knows how much time and work goes into a project like this, especially when the information you have is sketchy or inconsistent. With all the demands on my time, it was not long before I tabled this project. My daughter, Dorothy, stepped up to the challenge and has done a fantastic job. All of the information found on the Geneology portion of this web site is a credit to her determination.

Family Tree

My family has been particularly difficult, but we continue to research that branch. We do know that at least one of my ancestors fought in the Civil War after immigrating from Germany. My branch of the tree starts here: Thomas

Bud's family history is much better documented and we have learned that he is a decendant of Pocahonas. He also has three ancestors who fought in the Revolutionary War. We are working on getting documentation for them. Bud's branch of the tree starts here: Arrington

As we build this tree, we will reference where we got the information. It is hoped that anyone who needs or wants this information will be saved some research time when we reference the source of our information. We ask that if you have information about any of our ancestors, please share it with us.
